Let me tell you something about how Honey & Haze Photography came to be — because it didn’t start the way most photography businesses do.
There was no lifelong passion for cameras. No childhood darkroom. No natural-born eye for light that showed up at seven years old and never left.
What started it was something much simpler — and honestly, much more personal than that.
It Started With Not Wanting to Lose Something
Before I ever picked up a camera professionally, I fell in love with what photography does.
Think about it. A single image can hold an entire world. You can look at a photograph of your grandmother taken thirty years ago and feel her presence in the room. A child can grow up, pull out a photo album, and know — without anyone ever telling them — that they were completely loved in that season of life.
That’s what moved me. Not the craft. Not the equipment. The preservation of something that would otherwise disappear forever.
Because I know personally what it feels like to wish you had more pictures. More evidence. More proof that something beautiful happened and you were actually there for it. And because of that, I made a decision — I was not going to let the families and couples of North Alabama feel that way if I could help it.
So I picked up a camera and got to work.
Why We Rebranded to Honey & Haze Photography
As my work grew and evolved, it became clear that something needed to change. Honey & Haze Photography grew out of what was Milligan Manor Photography — and the rebrand wasn’t just a name change. It was me getting completely honest about who I am as a Huntsville photographer and exactly who I want to serve.
So where did the name come from?
Honey & Haze came from the feeling I chase in every single session. That warm, golden, slightly hazy quality of light just before the sun sets over the Tennessee Valley. Light that makes everything feel soft, true, and absolutely worth holding onto. The kind of light that doesn’t need anything to be perfect — it just needs to be real.
That feeling became the foundation for everything. My editing style. My approach to sessions. The way I show up for every family and every couple I work with across North Alabama.25
Specifically, that looks like warm shadows and golden skin tones for North Alabama family sessions — documentary in feel, like I caught a real moment rather than staged one. And for Huntsville and North Alabama weddings, it looks cinematic and editorial — like your day was always meant to look exactly this stunning.
The rebrand was me stepping fully into that. This is who I am. This is the work I want to do. And these are the people I want to serve.
What Actually Happens When I Show Up With a Camera
Here’s something most Huntsville photographers won’t tell you — I bring my whole self to this work.
I’m a preacher. A ministry leader. A woman of deep faith. And because of that, I bring all of those things to every session whether I intend to or not.
For example, when I show up to a wedding in Huntsville or anywhere across North Alabama, I’m not simply documenting an event. I’m bearing witness to a covenant and holding space for something sacred. I’m watching the margins — the father’s face the moment he sees his daughter. The way the groom loses his composure for just a second. The flower girl who has completely abandoned the plan and is doing her own thing entirely.
Those are the moments that tell the real story.
And similarly, when I show up to a North Alabama family session, I’m thinking about legacy. I’m thinking about the child who will one day be grown and look back at these images. I’m asking myself what I want them to see — not just what they looked like, but how it genuinely felt to be loved by their people in this exact, unrepeatable season of life.
That’s not just photography. That is ministry with a camera.
Who Honey & Haze Photography Is Built For
Simply put — Honey & Haze is for the families and couples who want more than pretty pictures.
It’s for couples planning weddings in Huntsville, Madison, Decatur, Florence, Athens, and across North Alabama who want their day to feel cinematic, intimate, and completely theirs. It’s for families who are tired of letting years slip by without documenting the season they’re actually in right now. And it’s for people who understand — deep down — that photographs are not a luxury. They are legacy.
I’m based in Madison, Alabama and I proudly serve all of North Alabama and Southern Tennessee. I also travel for the right story.
So if you’ve been putting off booking because you’re waiting for the perfect time — hear me clearly. The perfect time is right now. Your kids are not getting smaller. The season your family is in today will not come back around.
Let me help you hold onto it.
